January 18, 2017 Update:  A settlement between a class of Medicaid beneficiaries in Washington State and Washington's Health Care Authority over access to Harvoni and other Direct-Acting Anti-Viral medications for the treatment of Hepatitis C has been preliminary approved by the Court, and notice will be sent to class members.  You may find detailed information about this settlement here.

January 11, 2017 Update:  Court Issues Final Approval to Bridgespan Settlement.  A Washington State Court entered an order approving a settlement reached between a class and Bridgespan Insurance Company.  For more information about this settlement, click here.

August 17, 2016 UpdateInjunction entered and class certified in action against Washington's Uniform Medical Plan.  A Washington State Court entered a preliminary injunction against the State of Washington over its restrictive policy of rationing Harvoni and other Direct-Acting Anti-Viral medications for the treatment of Hepatitis C in the State Uniform Medical Plan.  More information on this class action lawsuit can be found here.

May 27, 2016 Update:  Injunction entered and class certified in action against Washington's Health Care Authority of it Administration of Medicaid.  The Federal District Court for the Western District of Washington entered a preliminary injunction against the State of Washington over its restrictive policy of rationing Harvoni and other Direct-Acting Anti-Viral medications for the treatment of Hepatitis C.  A copy of the press release concerning this decision is here, and the Order is posted here.

February 2016 Update:  Regence BlueShield, BridgeSpan and Group Health have all agreed to remove restrictions on access to Harvoni and other Direct-Acting Anti-Viral medications for the treatment of Hepatitis C.  Coverage is being made available while the parties negotiate over the final settlement language.

Sirianni Youtz Spoonemore Hamburger is currently litigating five class actions arising out of the denial of insurance coverage for Harvoni and other direct acting anti-viral drugs used to cure individuals with Hepatitis C.  BridgeSpan was sued in R.K. v. BridgeSpan Health Company, King County Cause No. 16-2-01672-3 SEA, Group Health Cooperative was sued in Morton v. Group Health Cooperative, Group Health Options, King County Cause No. 16-2-02011-9 SEA, Regence Blue Shield was sued in R.M. v. Regence BlueShield, King County Cause No. 16-2-03421-7 SEA, the State of Washington was sued in  B.E. and A.R. v. Teeter, United States District Court Western District of Washington Cause No. C16-227-JCC, and N.C. and L.J. v.
