Securities Litigation
All of the firm’s attorneys are experienced in class action securities litigation. That practice focuses on plaintiffs who have claims against businesses, brokerage firms, and promoters. Many cases have involved claims arising from limited partnerships and private placement-type investments. We have represented plaintiffs in class actions brought against brokerage firms and others, for various schemes and misrepresentations in connection with the sales of stocks, bonds, and other investments.
The firm also represents individual investors in claims against brokerage firms for mishandling investment accounts. We frequently represent investors in securities arbitrations before the NASD and other forums. We represented the prevailing party in a major state Supreme Court decision defining a “security” under the Washington State Securities Act. In addition, a number of defendants in securities cases have retained us, including law firms, accounting firms, and others who have been accused of participating in fraud.
Representative Cases:
- Lindenbaum v. Foster & Marshall (Washington - King County). A class action in which we represented investors in six limited partnerships who sued to recover their investments, alleging negligent misrepresentation and securities law violations in connection with the offering, and mismanagement of the partnerships. The suit settled. We are not permitted to discuss the settlement amount.
